The native tongue is Danish, but English is widely spoken. All foreign spoken movies are shown in the original language, with Danish subtitles.
The written Danish language contains several linguistic catches, to a foreigner's mind. The letters Æ/æ = ae, Ø/ø = oe, and Å/å = aa, occur frequently in names of cities or towns. In the Danish alphabeth, the three letters are placed at the end.
The letter Å kan also be written as Aa. Several towns in Denmark use this way of spelling their name, an example being Aalborg. No matter how the word is written, the pronunciation is the same, and in an alphabethical list of towns, Aalborg will come last side by side with Åbenrå, Århus, etc.
